| What: First Bridgeport Performance Training
When: June 13th-15th Where: Bridgeport, CT Report: On June 12th, the two WAIT Trainers, Lan and Kensei went to Bridgeport on Monday afternoon to help the Bridgeport in their anticipated first ever performance for June 15th. Lan and Kensei drove through the night to and got there around midnight. They quickly slept where they were staying at one of the family's houses, and awoke the next day, ready for work. So, all of Tuesday, the Bridgeport team practiced their dancing, breakdancing, singing and acting all day. Then, at night the team enjoyed dinner together to fill their hungry stomachs. The next day, the team met together and drove to Roosevelt Middle School where they would be performoing for an audience of approximately 500 people. Their first performance went very well with Bridgeport's uniqe and exciting style within their acts. The first act actually, in addition to all the boys, had 3 breakdance girls which was very impressive. The girl's dance to Most Girls by Pink also was made unique with about 9 dancers at certain points in the song at a time! All of the acts were performed with lots of heart and enthusiasm, and was well-loved by the audience! By the end of the performance the teacher was so passionate about the abstinence message that we give, that she put on a WAIT shirt, and she showed the kids proudly the message on the back of the shirt: " You're worth waiting for, and so am I". When the teacher went around to all the audience members and asked "What did you learn today?" , each person said different things until one person embarrasingly said "To wait.." But then more and more kids said they same thing in the microphone, "To wait!" The teachers were actually so inspired by the team that they asked the WAIT team to do another WAIT performance for the younger grade. After doing a great job in the second performance, the teacher asked "Who is going to wait?" All of the audience except for 1 person raised their hands, and so the teacher said to that person, "You need to go to the office, you need some talking to!" So The Bridgeport team did an amazing job for their first performance, and they truly made an amazing difference in that school! Good job Bridgeport!
