This event was a project of the Towards a Culture of Peace Initiative group. We perfomed at an amphitheater within the Maryland University Campus. It was chilly, but the audience seemed to be warmed up by our opening act by the WAIT breakdancers. Kate Tsubata then gave a talk to the 20 or so college students who were there on the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS on all the nations of the world. She also said that stopping AIDS is building world peace, and must come about from creating the consciousness of peace within each person. When we care for each other, peace exsits in our hearts, and world peace can be established. Following the talk was a performance by the WAIT Team, in which we performed our acts despite the less-than- warm temperatures. But, in spite of the cold, the audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance and were inspired to create a change within their communities. After the event in the amphitheater, everyone adjourned to another building for refreshments and a few musical acts from TCPI. Then, a TCPI representative gave a talk on World Peace. Many of the audience members approached the team after to ask questions and express their own passion on the issue of AIDS, and wanted to work together to create partnerships against this plague.
