WAIT FUNDRAISING CONCERT REPORT
Lancaster Gate, London W2
21st December 2007

On Friday evening, 21st December, WAIT UK held a fundraising concert with a triple purpose: to invite new school friends and neighbours to hear about WAIT; to celebrate the achievements of a very busy year; and to raise funds badly needed to pay off previous travel costs!

Emceed by Patrick Hanna and Eriko Kobayashi, the evening comprised of a variety of performances – from a full WAIT performance spread out during the evening, individual acts, to a magic show by our own Kenta Barrett. Included in the concert was a warm welcome by Chairman, Marshall de Souza, short reports from WAIT UK’s trips to Uganda, the Czech Republic and Ireland, an eye-catching performance from Junior WAIT, a lovely duet from Erena Shaw and Taeko Zacharias, two songs each from Joseph Mugambwa (who “appeared” from Uganda!) and Peter Graham accompanied by George Ostapko, a prize performance from our Ashley Crosthwaite, and Christmas carols led by George and the Junior WAIT team. We even fitted in time for the raffle draw (which awarded great prizes such as an iPod Shuffle) and a finale from singer-songwriter, Bernard Chellew.

Around seventy people attended this concert. Apart from the performances, there were items of food and drink and WAIT DVDs for sale. The event helped WAIT make a profit of approx. £400. All in all, a fantastic end to the year for WAIT UK! Many, many thanks to all the helpers and performers…
