WAIT INDIA, March 2008

WAIT is finally here in India! It was a wonderful experience presenting WAIT to the participants of RYS Chennai March 2008. We had 30 participants coming from India, Sri Lanka and Canada.
I started with a video presentation of the WAIT breakdance in Israel to grab the attention of the participants followed by a brief introduction of WAIT, including our message, goals and objectives. Next was a video presentation of the topic, "Why Teens Should Be Concerned With AIDS?". It gave them the idea why teenagers should be concerned with AIDS, the way HIV spreads, and the impact it has on the world today. Followed by the video was a presentation of HIV/AIDS facts that provided a clear picture of the serious problem the world’s current situation. Next up was our Skit performed by our WAIT Team in Israel. The participants were able to learn about the transmission of HIV, the way it attacks our T-cells, how it multiplies in our body and the effectiveness of ARVs. After our Skit, a presentation about practicing Abstinence was shown. It taught the importance of having one faithful partner for life. And finally, to finish it in style, a video of the WAIT Team breaking in Eleanor Roosevelt High got the participants in a trance. They were really impressed with WAIT and our efforts and motives.
I'm proud to say that it was a grand success and a great start for WAIT in India. A girl who practices medicine wants to start WAIT in her state. I'm really looking forward to another WAIT program in India. I continue to pray for my brothers and sisters who have devoted their time for WAIT and their efforts to have a world free from the clutches HIV/AIDS.

Sincerely,
Navaneetha Kannan Baskaran. (Enkei)
A proud member of WAIT.
