Brown Junior High School Performance
By Yuri Ishida
On December 14th, 2007, the DC WAIT team went to Brown Junior High School to perform for a student assembly. The performance started off with the breakdancing act, followed by the skit, the song “Hero”, a dance to the song “Stand in the Rain”, and the game show concluded by the Final Act. After the performance, many inspired students sought additional information about the WAIT team as flyers and brochures were being passed out.
From the comments we heard from students and teachers, the performances were exciting and educational, and a number signed up to join WAIT afterwards.
Eagle Scout Hosts Severna Park AIDS Concert
By Eddie Dabolt
On January 4, 2008, about 20 members of the DC WAIT team went to Severna Park High school to support an AIDS Benefit Concert. The performance was organized by Zach Musiol, a senior at Severna Park, for his Eagle Scout project. For me, the performance at Severna Park HS was possibly the most fun I have ever had at a WAIT team performance. The performance included many great local bands and performers and we got to watch there performances in between our acts: breakdancing and singing “Wait for Me.” The crowd loved the breakdancing and it went very smoothly. After our first act, we went into the audience and did some breakdancing there during some of the bands’ performances. “Wait for Me,” which wrapped up the concert, was a nice change after all of the rock bands from the school and the audience seemed to like it a lot. Overall, this performance went very well and we seemed to be able to really share the reality of AIDS with the audience.
