NJ, DC, & WYOS WAIT perform for Clifton High!

On Wednesday, March 7th '07,several Trainers from DC joined the New Jersey WAIT team in performing for 700 seniors at Clifton High School.

The full hour-long program allowed us to do several songs and several dances.  After the combined breakdancing act, the team performed the skit, and then “Wait for Me.”  The game show was well-responded to, and the dance “One Girl Revolution” and later “Rose is Still a Rose” really inspired the audience.  The group sang “Hero,” and announced that they would be singing a song written by Clifton High Alumnus Cathlene Bell, who is in Grenada training youth there, “Could it Be?”  The Final Act brought a large number of students up on stage, perhaps 20 or more.

Assistant Principal Ms. Cali reported that the audience had previously been moaning about “having to see” an AIDS presentation, but was totally transformed through what they saw.  Some 19 students signed up to join WAIT, and many spoke to the team members with gratitude, or in some cases, curiosity.

Many thanks to WAIT parents Kurt and Cilene Garrison, Anne-Marie Mouada, and Mrs. Gaigg for their unstinting support, and for all the other parents who made this happen as well. Of course, we owe a lot to all the NJ WAIT youth who invested their hearts and shared talents and goals in stopping HIV with the Clifton Senior Class of 2007
